Imphal East District

Imphal East District came into existence on 18-06-1997 with its headquarters at Porompat occupying the eastern part of Imphal District. The District is situated in two separate valleys of the state namely Central Valley and Jiribam Valley. This is the second most populous district in the state next only to Imphal West.

 

Area: 709 square kilometers

Density of Population: 643 people per square kilometer

Literacy Rate: 81.95 % - Male: 88.77 %, Female: 75.32 %

Male Female Ratio: 1000:1017

Latitude: 24.7807° N,

Longitude: 93.9674° E

Fauna: Sparrow, swallow, owl, myna, pigeon, nightingale, king fisher, wood pecker, heron, kite, duck, geese, snipe.
