Aizawl:

 

Aizawl situated on the central ridge in the middle part of the state, Aizawl stands out like a huge citadel. It stands at 3715 ft. above sea level, having mild and enjoyable temperature throughout the year. It is surrounded on the east by deep green valley of river Tuirial, on the west by river Tlawng, on the north protected by beautiful high craggy hills of Durtalang.

It’s an ideal hill station, adorned by picturesque scenery. Nearby, there are Picnic grounds with Cottages.

The Museum of Macdonal’s Hill and the Mini Zoological Garden at Bathlehem Vengthlang are there to make the tour exemplary.

Bung: An ideal spot for the picnickers. Modern facilities with restaurant are there.

Paikhai: An ideal picnic spot.

Sairang: A picnic spot, located on the bank of Tlawng river. Equipped with modern facilities.

Tamdil Lake: Beautifully situated in the midst of cool, virgin forest. It offers an ideal picnic spot with cafeteria, cottage and boating facilities.

Hmuifang: Ideal for picnickers.

Vantawng: The highest waterfall in the state, surrounded by a lush green tropical forest filled with bamboo groves. Wayside facilities with cottages, Viewing Gallery are there to embellish the tour-programme.

 

Champhai Town: Splendidly beautiful scenery of virgin forest. Tourists can have a view of the hills of Myanmar. It is also a Trade Center between India and Myanmar and the rice bowl of Mizoram. The legendary Rihdil (lake) is on the south inside Myanmar.

 

Tourists, proceeding further south of Champhai along Indo- Myanmar border, may find it interesting to see the famous Natural Purified Water coming out of rocky portion of Vaphai Hillock called Fiara Yui and the melancholy place of legendary beautiful girl Lianchhiari. Also interesting is the village life in the border area.

 

Dampa Wildlife Sanctuary: A Tiger Reserve with an area of 500 sq. km along the international border.

 

Murlen National Park: A treasure house of wildlife, which also accommodates Tigers, Chamber Deer, Himalayan Bear, Barking Deer, Serow and birds.

 

 

Lunglei:

 

Lunglei Town: Natural landscape, cool and pleasant climate, rich flora - all make this place a beautiful Hill- Station. The remains of the British Missionaries and the first church of Mizoram are found there. Nearby is a small lake.

 

District Park Zobawk: An archetype place for the tourists craving for nature.

 

Chhimtuipui: Ideal Hill Station for tourists looking for solitude and clean air. Located at an altitude of 4020 ft.

 

Phawngpui National Park: The highest mount in the state situated at 2157 meters above sea level. With an area of 3000 sq. meters, this park is rich in Flora and Fauna. Its’ a home for Tigers, Sambar Deer, Hoolog Gibbon, Barking Deer, Bear, Serow and birds.

 

Palak Lake: An oval shaped lake, the biggest in the state, surrounded by original thick forests and plantations. It’s rich in Flora and Fauna and even in Wild Elephants. Various types of water lilies and varieties of water birds nested in these plants cover a large part of the waterfronts.

 

Kolodyne River: the biggest river in Mizoram, having its source from the eastern Myanmar after flowing through Chhimtuipui District enters in the Bay of Bengal near Myanmar.

 

Tourism Plus:

 

Nature Tourism: A number of Beautiful rivers flow through Mizoram. River Dhaleswari had provided the entry and exit routes for the Mizo hills through the ages. The Kolodyne River enters from Myanmar; flows westward and then southward just to re-enter Myanmar. The Karnaphuli enters Bangladesh at Demagiri. The port and the city of Chittagong are situated at its mouth in Bangladesh.

 

The state also has several high mountain peaks. The hillsides are generally covered with forests and bamboo jungles. The small plains are believed to be possibly the silted beds of lakes, which existed at the hilltop.

 

It has a number of beautiful lakes, e.g. Palak, Tamdil, Rungdil and Rengdil – all give the land a touch of extra- ordinary natural beauty.
